GreenPlumbers® is one of Australia's leading environmental products and installation services.

 

Originally founded by the Master Plumbers and Mechanical Services Association of Australia (MPMSAA) in 2005, GreenPlumbers now provides national distribution and installation of environmentally friendly plumbing products and green audits through a network of trained and accredited GreenPlumbers in Australia and throughout North America.

 

Since its implementation in 2001, GreenPlumbers has accredited more than 6000 plumbers nationally.

  • Introduced into the USA (GreenPlumbers USA) through exclusive agreements with Plumbing, Heating, Cooling Contractors Association of California and Onni Inc. of the United States;
  • Conservation partners in USA are Alliance for Water Efficiency and Centre for Sustainable Energy (California).

Revenue model:

  • Plumbers offered free GP training;
  • 100 workshops this year = 4000 accredited GPs;
  • Larger potential contractors offered GP licenses, paying $5,000 for 5 year license then $300 a month fee.

Potential:

  • The US has low skills in water and energy efficiency;
  • Environmental awareness is increasing within government, the community and the plumbing profession;
  • 438,000 plumbers and 621,000 electricians across the country; and
  • GP has the first to market mover advantage.

Advertising costs are rising:

  • Yellow Pages cost up to $20,000 per month for one area!
  • GP seen as a much cheaper marketing alternative.
