Green Plumbers was founded in 2005 by the Master Plumbers and Mechanical Services Association of Australia (MPMSAA) to meet the demand for the installation of water saving and energy efficiency products. Green Plumbers is already expanding its licensing network to the US and NZ. There are currently 28 licensees (5,300 plumbers) focused on the national distribution and installation of environmentally friendly plumbing products and green audits. Green Plumbers works with the community, local Government and industry promoting environmentally sustainable ways of operating.
Nationally, the MPMSAA, through Green Plumbers Environmental Solutions currently offers five free accredited units nationally in environmental practices for registered plumbers. Courses include Climate Care, Caring for our Water, Solar Hot Water, Water Efficient Technology and Inspection Reports. Internationally, the MPMSAA has already developed an international extension of its training and accreditation programs for Green Plumbing in the US and NZ.
Plumbers who have successfully completed the five MPMSAA training programs are eligible for full Green Plumbers® accreditation. Fully accredited plumbers may then be offered the option of joining the Green Plumbers® licensee network.
